Mutual funds (MFs) sold shares worth Rs 147.50 crore on Wednesday, 1 August 2007. They had bought shares worth a net Rs 186.30 crore on Tuesday, 31 July 2007.
Mutual funds' net outflow of Rs 147.50 crore on 1 August 2007 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 809.40 crore and gross sales of Rs 956.90 crore. The 30-shares BSE Sensex plunged 615.22 points or 3.96% to settle at 14,935.77 on that day. This was the third biggest single day point fall in Sensex ever.
Mutual funds sold equities worth Rs 900.60 crore in the month of July 2007.
Mutual funds had pumped in Rs 9062.34 crore in Indian equity market in the financial year ended March 2007.
